✈️✈️CP Bootcamp: Deals to Top Off Earning

Published 4 months ago • 1 min read

Beyond credit card offers, you can keep earning Southwest points all year round in other ways. This can also be helpful if you need a few more points to reach that 135,000 point threshold.

Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping

Southwest Rapid Rewards Shopping is available as a browser extension or you can click through from their website to different deals. You can earn on online purchases for places you already shop - like Walmart, Kohls, Home Depot, etc.

Some deals offer fixed points per dollar and others have a larger point amount per purchase -- within the terms. Read the terms carefully and screenshot them! Here are some decent deals now that could help you quickly earn more points. There are more on the site for you to browse, too!

BlueApron - 3500 points for $18

IMPORTANT! You need to get the first delivery and then manually skip all other deliveries for 45 days before you cancel. If you cancel before 45 days you won't get your points.

HelloFresh - 2400 points for $30

Unlike BlueApron terms don't show a minimum before cancellation. You could still skip deliveries for a few weeks to be safe.

Barron's or WSJ or Marketwatch - 350 points for $8

You need to keep your membership for 45 days so will pay for 2 months at $4/month each. Click the deal for $1/week. You can do all three deals

MillionAcres or Motley Fool - 4300 points for $99

This is a more pricey way to earn points but if you want to earn points fast for a Companion Pass, it can make sense. You could do both of these deals.

Rapid Rewards Dining

Link a credit or debit card to Rapid Rewards Dining and you will automatically earn extra points when you pay for a meal at a restaurant in the program. I suggest linking whatever card you use the most to keep it easy.

Note that the 500 point bonus for signing up will not count towards your Companion Pass tracker.

Southwest Hotels

If you will be paying for hotels and are not concerned with trying to earn hotel elite status, booking via Southwest Hotels can be a great option. You can earn up to 10,000 points per night, though personally I have never found those rates. I have read the rates vary on location and inventory.

Other options

You can also browse the "Shop and Dine" and "Home and Lifestyle" sections on Southwest's website. Keep in mind that the "Specialty" category will earn points but not points that count towards a Companion Pass.

Happy Travels,

Katie

These were the MOST popular offers in 2023 and we get them for a few short weeks in 2024. Earning bonuses on these cards 3x (and referring back and forth) is what helped Micah and I earn over a million points in 2023. This email has EVERYTHING you need to know about them. CARD 1: (This bank no longer permits me to name the cards in emails) You will earn 96,000 points after completing the minimum spend. You can earn 5x on Office Supply stores and some people take advantage of this to earn more...

When talking about the Companion Pass, I often emphasize how important the timing of this is. I'm dedicated this week's Bootcamp to explaining the "why" of the timing -- as well as offer some reminders. Companion Pass Tracker Resets on January 1 This is the single more important factor for timing. Your Companion Pass Tracker looks something like this. You can find it when you're logged in to your Rapid Rewards account. This is an old screenshot so it only shows 125,000 points needed. It shows...

Today we're starting at the end. That's because I want you to go into this process of earning a Southwest Companion Pass knowing what to do at the very end of the process. Plus a lot of you already have had a Southwest card (or still have one) and are trying to figure out what to do with it while going for the Companion Pass. When To Close a Southwest Card for Max Value Timing your card closure can help you (1) earn more points and (2) be ready to get another Companion Pass in a few years....
